Cork’s premier community music society, Duhallow Choral Society will perform during a special concert in Leinster House, the seat of Dáil and Seanad Éireann, on Tuesday, May 2nd to raise money for the work of the Capuchin Day Centre.
The Choral Society which celebrates in 21st anniversary in 2017 has been requested to take part in a musical celebration before the members of Dáil and Seanad Éireann, as well as the staff of the Oireachtas.
Choir Manager, Brigid Daly said “This is a major honour for the choir, and is testament to all their hard work and dedication over the past 21 years.”
“There is great excitement amongst the membership and there is a strong appetite to show our TDs and Senators the strength of the choral music tradition in Duhallow and surrounding areas.
Over the last 21 years, we have been honoured to have been asked to perform at events across Ireland, and even overseas. We were thrilled to sing before former Senator Hillary Clinton in New York, former President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox in Brussels and before current President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins.
The Duhallow Choral Society were nominated, and recommended for inclusion in the musical event, by local TD and Fianna Fáil Chief Whip, Michael Moynihan.
Duhallow Choral Society would like to take this opportunity to thank Deputy Michael Moynihan for inviting us to perform during a special concert in Leinster House next week. Also a huge thanks to Kanturk Credit Union for their donation of €600 towards professional fees for the trip & our local AIB Bank Kanturk & Bank of Ireland Kanturk for their donations towards our Bus for our trip to Dublin. IRD Duhallow have also kindly helped us by printing our programme for the upcoming concert. There is great excitement amongst our members and a strong appetite to show our TDs & Senators the strength of the Choral Music Tradition in Duhallow & surrounding areas .
